Is Kaia / Kaiya a girls name?? i reall love it but my friends keep telling me its more a boys name!???

I love the name Kaia. Kai has many different meanings in different cultures such as ocean/sea in Hawaiian and love in Swahili. I like it spelled Kaia. Kaiya will be referred to as a misspelling.
